Nursing is one of the most noble and caring of professions – amazing people who dedicate their lives to caring for other people!
Yesterday, we were honored to have three nursing students from MATC join us. They read about our work on Facebook and volunteered to help at Synergy High School. They came in scrubs and with stethoscopes and jumped right into the mix helping the students with their business models.
Synergy is an alternative high school, with the following objectives:
“Synergy is located staffed by teachers who work toward eliminating the distractions and negative influences students might encounter in other classroom settings. Synergy serves 12- to 21-year-old male and female Milwaukee Public Schools’ students with a history of truancy, disorderly conduct, or out-of-home placement at a juvenile correctional facility.”
It is impressive to see kids who have unharnessed creativity and energy dig into the business model with the objective of creating a business. Almost every student had an idea for a business they wanted to start.
One of my former students at UW-Milwaukee, long-time mentee, and serial technology entrepreneur, Monte Eady, guided a very interesting and cutting-edge tech idea from one of the teams – hopefully, more on this idea later.
